Is your AC blowing cold air in winter?
Winter is here, and many Lahore homes now use their inverter AC as a heater. It's quick, and there's no gas cylinder or heater flame in the room.
But sometimes you switch to heat mode and the AC keeps blowing cold air. Or it heats for a while, then stops. If that's happening, we come to your home, find the fault and fix it. We tell you the price before we start.
Common causes we fix

- Stuck 4 way valve
The 4 way valve is the part that switches your AC from cooling to heating. If it sticks, the AC keeps cooling even on heat mode.
Some older ACs are cool only. They were never made to heat, and no repair will change that. If yours is one of them, we'll tell you honestly instead of charging you for a repair.
Quick checks before you call
- Check the mode. Look for the sun icon on the remote. That's heat mode. The snowflake is cooling.
- Set 22 to 24°C. If the set temperature is lower than the room, the AC won't heat.
- Wait 3 to 5 minutes. On heat mode, the indoor fan only starts once the coil is warm. This stops the AC from blowing cold air at you.

Normal things that are not faults
On cold mornings, the outdoor unit can collect frost. The AC melts it every so often. This is called the defrost cycle. While it runs:
- Water or steam comes from the outdoor unit.
- The indoor fan stops for a few minutes.
Both are normal. Heating starts again by itself when defrost finishes.

Why is my AC blowing cold air on heat mode?
First, check the remote shows the sun icon and wait 3 to 5 minutes, because the indoor fan starts only once the coil is warm. If it still blows cold, the usual causes are low gas, a dirty filter or coil, a faulty sensor, a PCB fault or a stuck 4 way valve. Some older ACs are cool only and can't heat at all.
What temperature should I set on AC heat mode?
22 to 24°C is comfortable for most homes. Setting it much higher makes the AC work harder and use more electricity.
Is it normal for water or steam to come from the outdoor unit in winter?
Yes. This is the defrost cycle. The AC melts frost on the outdoor unit, so you see water or steam, and the indoor fan stops for a few minutes. Heating starts again by itself.
Can every inverter AC heat?
No. Most inverter ACs sold in Pakistan are heat and cool, but some models are cool only. Check the remote for a sun icon or heat mode, or look for "heat and cool" on the box or the model label. If you're not sure, send us the model number.
Is AC heating cheaper or safer than a gas heater?
An AC is safer because it doesn't burn anything in the room, so there's no risk of gas leaks or carbon monoxide. Which is cheaper depends on your electricity and gas rates, how cold it is and how many hours you run it. An inverter AC in good condition is usually an efficient way to heat a room.
